This is such a creative way to explore the archetypes of the tarot and it's inspired me to find musical correspondences for my meditations with the cards.

I only came across your Substack recently, as it was recommended by Back From the Borderline. I saw that you're a psychotherapist writing about tarot, depth psychology, and many other words that light me up.

Just before I read this piece of writing I was practising a visualisation meditation to replenish my energy. I do this by visualising my energy as a garden. In this specific visualisation, I was nude, collecting ambrosia from a mountain spring. After bathing myself and drinking this ambrosia, the vessel holding the liquor became a vase and I poured it out on the earth in a stance evoking the Star.

It felt right to then read a post about the Star.

P.S.

I adore Alanis, she was just the coolest woman when I was a child.

I'm thrilled to explore your writings and learn more.

P.P.S.

I always see the Star as the card of finding one's place in the world (again), usually after a Tower experience, and thus understanding that one's place in the world is not fixed and will change again with time, age, experience, and after other Tower experiences. That is to say, for me, finding one's place in the world is moving through the world and the world moving through me.

There's a sweet tenderness that comes with the healing of the Star.

I think Billie Marten's "She Dances" reminds me of the Star for reasons I'm still contemplating now that you've put the question to me. The music itself, the lyrics, and Billie's voice. I'm sure there are other reasons this song came to mind... I'll think about them.

EDIT: I think the chorus of "She howls as she dances" to the gentle melody of the music and Billie's voice reminds me of that sweet release I feel when after I've accepted the Tower experience, and I've alchemised in the fire, I'm now transforming through my healing.

Aw, Mae, I am so glad that this post resonated with you, and I love that your beautiful and vivid visualization brought you to it! (Not to mention very star-like, might I add, with the imagery of replenishing yourself!) It seems like your psyche knew exactly what you needed and how to bring us together! :)

I completely agree with your interpretation of the star and the importance of finding one's place in the world. I've not heard the Billie Marten's song you mentioned, but I will definitely give it a listen!

I can also deeply resonate with that feeling of release from the tower! As you so beautifully wrote, when we are alchemized by the fire, we then become clean and are able to know our truest self! :)
